New Radically revised progressive suspension frame curve

New re-worked geometry for confidence, speed and stability

New Geometry optimised for 150mm front/145mm rear travel

It’s difficult to create an introduction for a bike with the reputation of the Five. It’s the original utility high-performance bike. In 20 years, its basic silhouette hasn’t really changed; you’d never mistake it for another bike. It’s the bike you ride at your local ‘spot’ on the weekend with your mates, it’s the bike you get out for a quick evenings lap, it’s the bike you ride all through winter – day or night, the bike you race enduro on, you do your first downhill race on, and the one you can take on your annual trip to the Alps. It’s the quiver killer, and it’s still a Five.

The Five still rolls on 27.5 inch wheels, albeit with meatier tyres than last year, maintains its 150mm travel fork but gains additional travel at the rear which now sits at 145mm. It has adopted the use of a metric shock and the frame has been tuned to be more progressive offering more support and bottom out resistance whilst we’ve also improved small bump compliance in the initial part of the stroke. We’ve also slightly reduced the bikes anti-squat numbers, but it still has that great turn of pace and dynamic delivery you’d expect when you get on the pedals.
A huge part of what gives our bikes their character is their geometry and the five is no different with a whole host of changes. The head angle has now slackened a degree to 65, while the BB is 5mm lower, chain stays have increased by 7mm, and the reach has increased by 10mm (size L). While the head tubes on the large and X-large bikes have been shortened as a result of rider feedback.

Much like its stable mate the Alpine 6 we have made sizing revisions to the Five giving people a better range to choose from. The XS has been dropped from the range while we’ve added a XXL at the other end of the scale and shortened the seat tube on the XL.
We’ve worked on the smaller details as well, our cable routing has seen an overhaul to be easier on the eye and keep those big loops to a minimum. All the CNC parts on the frame, upper and lower shock mounts, dropouts and bearing housings have all seen revisions.
So whatever you have planned for your Five it’ll be better prepared than ever to take you there and back with the most amount of fun and least amount of fuss.
The bikes silhouette is iconic and so is its ride.
