Stumpjumper Coil – Plus a very special Biketreks offer

Side

Last year Specialized turned the consumer trail bike market on its head with the release of the Enduro Coil. The growing popularity of coil sprung suspension on the EWS circuit, as well as Specilaized’s adoption of the Ohlins brand, meant that putting a coil sprung Enduro on the market was a no brainer. It paid off massively, too - the Enduro Coil turned out to be one of Specialized’s most popular mountain bikes in the 2017 season, despite its limited run. The handful that we had in our Ambleside shop were quickly snapped up as people recognized their potential as go-anywhere, do-anything trail bikes.

Front

Roll over to 2018 and the Enduro Coil once again features in the Specilaized line up, only this time it sits alongside the brand new Stumpjumper Coil. The iconic Stumpjumper is probably one the most widely respected mountain bikes around, so with the addition of some Ohlins coil sprung loveliness we reckon this should be a pretty special bike.

Fork

For those not in the know, coil sprung suspension is more reliable, more consistent and better performing than air sprung. Its simple design doesn’t rely on seals or pressurized air, meaning less internal friction and less to go wrong. Coil suspension is well suited to alpine riders and enduro racers as it doesn’t fade on long or repeated descents, unlike air which can start to feel dull after particularly hard riding. Weight can be concern for some when choosing between coil and air, although the increased pedalling efficiency of coil more than makes up for the minor weight penalty.

 RXF

Specialized have given the Stumpjumper Coil more or less the same build kit as last year’s Enduro Coil, with the welcome addition of some Traverse Carbon 29 rims. So for your £5750 your getting, along with the carbon rims, an S-Works 11m carbon frame, Ohlins RXF 36 coil fork, Ohlins TTX22M coil Shock, SRAM Guide R Brakes, SRAM GX 1x11 drivetrain and a Specilaized Command post dropper. While there are certainly some jaw dropping features on the Coil build kit, we’d be the first to admit that there are some areas in need of a tweak. That’s why we’ve decided on a very special offer for our 2 stock Stumpjumper Coils.

Shock

For anyone purchasing an in stock Stump Jumper coil from us, we are offering a FREE upgrade to SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain (excluding chainset) AND Hope Tech 3 E4 brakes. Suddenly £5750 seems like a bargain, eh?  We reckon that with a few Biketreks tweaks this will be an absolute monster of a bike, and at an incredible price too. We can’t wait to get these built up and on display – we’re already won over by the deep purple and gold colour scheme! We’re not expecting these bikes to stick around for long, so if you want to own one then give us a shout or pop into our Ambleside store.
