S-Works Sagan Collection Tarmac Disc

Green and glittering are two adjectives that sum up six-time Tour de France green jersey winner, Peter Sagan, pretty well, so it seems fitting that his latest signature collection for Specialized should feature plenty of green (well, ‘teal’) and glittery paintwork.

While we like to think that the bold paintwork represents the World Champion’s sparkling personality and propensity for points, the marketing bods at the big S will tell you that they serve as “a reminder of the serenity found in the teal-coloured waters of the Côte d’Azure”, which he calls home. However, regardless of the deeper symbolism of the bike’s paint job, the end result is a stunning looking frame that’s sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

It’s not all about aesthetics either. Beneath the sparkling teal exterior is a supremely engineered race bike. For the new S-Works Tarmac Disc, Specialized has used advanced aerospace optimisation software to revolutionise the layup and construction of their new FACT 12r carbon, resulting in a 20% (200g) reduction in frame weight. They’ve also improved their trademark ‘Rider-First Engineered’ technology to ensure stiffness and compliance exactly where it’s needed, whilst also shedding weight where it’s not. New forks and revised geometry based on professional rider input and countless Retül data points provides the perfect combination of a responsive front end and short wheelbase, allowing for optimal power transfer and responsiveness. Additional comfort and compliance comes courtesy of a redesigned seatpost, dropped seatstays and clearance for up to 30mm tyres. And, of course, it’s designed to take disc brakes, for the ultimate in braking power and modulation, whatever the weather.

It’s certainly proved to be a winning formula for Sagan, and while it may not win you a green jersey on the next Tour, this lean green race machine is certain to help you excel in whatever racing endeavours you undertake.
