Our First Alchemy Arktos Build And We Aren’t Messing About- Podium WIN Too!

As most of you will know we took on the brand Alchemy a few months ago and since the Arktos has graced our shop floor it’s had more than a few pairs of admiring eyes and wondering grubby mitts!  Destined to be “the” bike of 2017/18 by Pink Bike and Singletrack we are glad we had the foresight to predict this early on, well I am!

So here is the first of our Aktos (Arkti?!) out of the door and it’s quite an opener!  With the fancy custom carbon frame in gloss and matte black, SRAM XX1 Eagle, chris king and ENVE everywhere it’ll fit, Hope Tech brakes and Fox suspension.

It’s taken Sam 6 hours to build with all the cable routing that sits internally but it’s worth it to see all those wonderful clean lines.  Built up this comes to 27.5lbs and will cost the wrong side of £9k for most people but there are more affordable options available!

This has just been delivered to one of our Enduro riders who is speechless with getting this to ride so you’ll be able to perv on this bike yourself if you’re racing any PMBA’s or SES this year.  We have put plenty of kit on it that’s proven in the market place and plenty that is not so much by real life people so we will keep you updated as to how it fairs in the rough and rugged Lake District rather than the rolling Surrey Hills or the heat of Colorado!

This is the carbon cc frame in gloss and matte black paint which is stunningly stealthy!  Equipped with:

  • SRAM XX1 Eagle
  • Hope Tech 3 E4 Brakes
  • Chris King Bottom Bracket
  • Chris King Hubs on ENVE M60:40 HV Rims
  • Fox 36 Float 160mm RC2 Forks
  • Fox Float X Shock Factory
  • ENCE Bar and Stem
  • Crank Brothers Dropper on test before we fit a Fox Transfer as we’ve killed the CB one already!

Hope providing the braking power as they will always work and never let you down which is super important whilst racing!

Hope headset with ENVE bars and stem to give Ben precise steering control that he needs to avoid those trees!

First ride out on the bike was at the Grizedale PMBA Day and Night Enduro and we had Chris come 2nd in the day and 2nd in the night, Ben on this bike come 3rd in the day and 1st in the night so overall we had a 1st and 2nd podium for the bikes first outing!

I’d like to apologise to the guys at Hope for my bike getting more attention in the pit lanes than their HB1 which is pretty, but not this pretty!  I’d also like to thank the chaps at Alchemy and Saddleback for helping us sort this bike out for one of our guys to ride for the season and thanks to Ben for having to put up with riding it!  The aim is to give you people a real world view of how bikes fair in a given race season hopefully proving that we are right in the stock that we promote to you for racing as we do so after rigorous testing!

Reports are to come and we won’t just brush any badness under the carpet, you know us we will tell it like it is!
